East Side Van & Storage Company was purchased by Vern Tufford in 1956. In 1970, a second location was opened in Klamath Falls, OR and then Westside Moving & Storage, in SW Portland, was opened in 1981.
Westside Moving & Storage was created as a sister company, to meet the needs of the growing west suburban side of Portland and it’s quality service in both commercial and office moving services, as well as corporate household goods and residential moving, quickly took them to a top tier Portland moving service provider.
As Westside has grown through the years it has also expanded its services even further. By the late 1990’s, Vern began transitioning the business to be taken over by his 3 children, Tom Tufford, Karen Ashcraft and Jody Kilgore. After the passing of Tom Tufford in 2006 after an extended illness, both the East Side and Westside Moving agencies have continued under the leadership of Karen, Jody and their spouses.
Both companies continue servicing Portland, the State of Oregon and through their affiliation with Mayflower Transit and Unigroup Worldwide Relocation, countries around the globe. The foundation of quality service and ethical business practices that were initiated in the early years have continued to make the Eastside Van and Storage and Westside Moving & Storage names respected throughout the industry.
